Wednesday 1st April

-         Chaired the meeting of the Work and Pensions Select Committee where we discussed our Equalities Inquiry

-         Meeting with Bradford MPs and representatives of Westfield to talk about lack of progress on their Bradford development

-         Recording of piece for the BBC’s Politics Show on ME

-         Attended RADAR Dialogue Scheme reception and launch of MP Guide on Disability

-         Supported USDAW’s Parents and Carers Campaign

Vote on the Non-Domestic Rating Regulations

 

Thursday 2nd April

-         Recording of a piece for the Japan Broadcasting Corporation on Welfare Reform in the UK

 

Friday 3rd April – Friday 17th April

Out and about in Bradford during House of Commons Easter Recess

 

Monday 20 April

-         Chaired the meeting of the Work and Pensions Select Committee where we had further discussion on our Equalities Inquiry

 

Tuesday 21 April

-         Meeting with representatives of ERSA and A4E

-         Attended drop-in event highlighting Depression Awareness Week

-         Meeting with representative of WhizzKidz, a disabled children's charity

-         Attended meeting of All Party Group on the Community and Voluntary Sector addressed by Dame Suzi Leather and Stuart Etherington on the impact of the recession

-         Meeting with the new Chief Executive of the Pension Protection Fund

Vote on the Industry and Exports (Financial Support) Bill

 

Wednesday 22 April

-         Chaired the meeting of the Work and Pensions Select Committee taking evidence as part of our enquiry into Tackling Pensioner Poverty

-         Met carers who were lobbying parliament about carers poverty

-         Meeting with representatives of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers

-         Attended a reception organised by the TUC celebrating Unionlearn

-         Attended a reception to celebrate progress on Equality

Debate on the Budget in the Chamber

 

Tuesday 28 April

-         All-day visit to Cambridge and surrounding area with the Work and Pensions Select Committee as part of our enquiry into Tackling Pensioner Poverty

Vote on the Budget

 

Wednesday 29 April

-         Attended a meeting with the Chief Executive of the Electoral Commission to discuss how to improve voter registration

-         Met students from Hanson School who were visiting Parliament

Vote on two Liberal Democrat motions: (1) Gurkha settlement rights; (2) Sri Lanka
